Praying Mantis

When Evolution
concocted mankind
she must have been
mad
SO mad

Mad at the planet
for not putting out the garbage?
Mad at god
for mansplaining?

Mad –
she must have been

Temporary insanity
drug induced?
Hereditary madness
her genes to blame?

Evolution
must have been
when she cooked up mankind

Survival of the greediest
wrecking of the planet

Todays prompt at octpowrimo.com was Madness Reigns. It does. In too many places and too many ways.

Would you pray to me?

I’m no god
but if you’d pray to me
I’d grant you all your wishes

provided

they benefit others as much as you
they are meaningful in the long run
their ecological footprint is small
they are backed by either science or religion
they cause no harm

I’d grant you all your wishes
Though I’m no god
tell me what you pray for

Today’s prompt on napowrimo.net was to write about multiple things happening at once. I’ve always been puzzled what happens when people pray for opposite things at the same time – especially when they pray to the same god. Who wins?

Why don’t you walk with me and my friend Jenny through Paris,  whilst you ponder on that? She’s written a wonderful poem about finally getting something she’d never got before. Her poem is called Abandoned perspective, and it’s a lot better than my introduction of it. It features tired legs and Picasso.

I’m not worthy

220px-Bonnat02Of course I’m not proud
I’m not worthy
Pride is reserved for the gods

Which begs the question:
Was Mary allowed to be proud of baby Jesus?
Holy mother
Mother of god?

Of course I’m not proud
I’m not worthy
Pride is reserved for the gods

Pride comes before a fall
but the question is: who falls?

God was proud of Job
and sent him all the plagues he could think of
just to prove to the devil
that Job was a good man

Of course I’m not proud
I’m not worthy
Pride is reserved for the gods

Since asking questions might be frowned upon
(Who are you to dare think for yourself?)
I’ll just pride myself in being humble
I’m not worthy enough to take a fall
for that you need to be special

Hell

It was a brilliant move

to incarcerate me

in heaven

Looking outside my window

I see white clouds

drifting gently

The wheather is nice

People smile, say hello

wave goodbye

I sense eternal spring

bright greens, tender pinks

white lambs

I grind my teeth

at yet another smile

more daffodils

God, let me go,

Please, let me go

You’ve won

It was a brilliant move

to incarcerate me

in heaven
