Defamed

They accuse me/I stand accused
Of turning people to stone
They don’t understand/I’m misunderstood
I don’t act
I only reveal

They accuse me/I stand accused
Of turning people to stone
They don’t understand/I’m misunderstood
I don’t create
I just show what’s there

They accuse me/I stand accused
Of turning people to stone
They don’t understand/I’m misunderstood
My eyes do no harm
They witness

I stand accused/It’s them who do it
Of turning people to stone
I’m misunderstood/It’s you who do it
You only turn to stone
When you can’t bear
What you see

It surprised me too. But I was willing and had some time. Looking forward to regularly reading you again, no matter whether it’s poetry or not.

Excellent take on Medusa, Angela. She’s often seen as the villain but as you say, what if she is showing you what you don’t want to see about yourself and you turn to stone as an act of shame. Very intriguing! 🙂 Looking forward to reading your work throughout this exciting time 🙂

What a lovely way to change the perspective in the first lines. A very effective way to make someone active or passive, and to show who really is the agent in the action! Hope you will have a productive NaPoWriMo – see you in the poetry fields of the internet!
