I used to be me –
that was before
I turned into
boobs on legs
I used to be a two legged
two boobed girl
that was before
I turned into
a walking vagina
I used to be
a bunch of
secondary sex characteristics
that was before
I turned into
a walking womb
I used to be a woman
that was before
I turned into
a mother
It used to drive me nuts
My boobs obscuring
my brain
It used to drive me nuts
My sex obscuring
my personality
It used yto drive me nuts
my fertility obscuring
my humanity
I used to be nuts
before my womb
went on strike
my vagina
dried up
my boobs
sagged
Now I’m just
me
Oh, yeah! I’ve recently made this transition to being just me and how glorious it is to gain the invisibility of the older woman ! For me, it’s empowering . This poem expresses it beautifully .
Sounds like you are sorted out now🙂 I know where you are coming from
What do you mean?
With the sorted out I mean 🙂
I meant you it looks like you are at a stage where you are beyond all the ‘labels’..
No, not yet. But my imagination is older than I am 😉
How nice would it be if we could remain US and ALSO be a woman, a mother, a sexual being!
Beautifully penned Angela!

Amen to that!

It looks really interesting. Not sure my French is good enough (certain it’s not, actually) but I want to give it a try.
Well, it’s only the subtitles that are in French. She is interviewed in English, thankfully for all of us! 😉
That’s good news. Thanks!
This was powerful. Like a bare-knuckle one-punch K.O. Almost brutal, teeth-dislodging with its simple intensity and impact. Also, a bit sad that this is indeed the “obscenity” of the being that is you – always one before the other eclipses you in the eyes of the onlookers. These elements not being considered parts of you but things that overtake and in many ways define your existence when they are just aspects. Like having a fair hand with mechanics or being double-jointed or loving J.K. Rowling or disliking the taste of sushi. Aspects. Pieces, not wholes.
Thank you so much for sharing.
