We tried to make him human
by laughing at his hands
ridiculing his haircut
We tried to make him human
by discussing his mistakes
exposing his weaknesses
We tried to make him human
by debunking his speeches
deflating his ego
It didn’t work
He still is
their Jesus incarnate
The prompt today at octpowrimo.com was love. For me, this poem is linked to it. May I add that I don’t mean to offend anyone’s religion or political preferences by either the poem or the image? Not because it’s politically correct to say so, but because it matters to me.
You voice the desperate attempts to see the good so well here!
Yes.
Maybe we’re going about this “making him human” thing wrong? Maybe mocking wasn’t the way (and I do it too!).
Nice picture too
He’s not human and neither are his worshippers. They are cartoon icons.
I hear your frustration! I’m so puzzled by the phenomenon and the dynamics… How did this happen? Why is it happening? Why does it not matter if he lies and misbehaves?
I honestly believe that a certain % of his followers don’t care what he does as long as he’s making them money. The vast majority, however, are brainwashed through repetition. They watch FOX news which plays like a broken record, and he panders to the picked-on and paranoid, so when something he does is outrageous, they either think the non-FOX media is picking on him or lying about him. It’s a very sick and dangerous situation!
hits the nail right on the head.
A bit on the nose for my usual tastes, BUT, this would make an awesome industrial song. And who says it’s all purple prose in the end, anyway.
On point!
