At the crossroads

crossroads3_1cropWEBI want to feel you, he said
and she asked him
do you want to feel
my pain, my hurt, my memories?

Let me heal you, he said
and she wondered
do you want to heal
my body, my soul, my past?

Can I kneel for you, he asked
kneel for who you are
kneel for who you shall be
kneel for what’s to come?

Will you let me rise, she demanded
rise beneath the shadows
rise to the occasion
rise underneath your fears?

He fell silent
and wondered
if she asked him
to sell his soul

In 2018 I found the notebook where I’d written my draft of this one, and realised there’s a part that I edited out when I posted this poem. I shared that part  during #OctPoWriMo as a seperate poem called Neat Love.
