Luscious terror

Wallet, wallet, make no sound
to my income you are bound
You always want more scum of the earth
I’ve promised to feed you, as much as that’s worth

I wonder what foreign notes and coins
Will ultimately bear fruit in thy loins?
For all the spawn that I put in there
Has left but emptiness, no fruit to bear

I don’t want to commend more sins
But your unquenchable thirst always wins
Your eternal hungry mouth to feed
Devouring bounty with increasing speed

What the hammer, what the chain
Can possibly nail thy insatiable brain?
I will fight your sucking grasp
Slap its luscious terrors clasp

No longer fill that gaping hole
I will put you on the dole
Create a beacon of modesty
If you protest, I’ll leave you be

Wallet, wallet, make no sound
to my income you are bound
You always want more scum of the earth
I will always feed you, as much as that’s worth

I hang out with insatiable poets on Facebook. Now that National Poetry month is over, they prompt each other. The challenge was to rewrite some or all of Blake’s ‘Tyger Tyger’ changing the Tyger to an everyday item/object. You’ll find the original poem here.
